What is Clique?
Clique builds Digital Identity Oracles that make it possible for their users to establish a digital reputation based on their on-chain and off-chain activity. For example, they can track a player’s playtime and use that data to create a corresponding on-chain badge. They’ve built oracles for a variety of communities on Ethereum mainnet, multiple ETH L2s, and BNB Smart Chain. Today, we’re thrilled to welcome them to Ronin! We’re celebrating this partnership by introducing Clique’s first-ever Gaming ID Badge on Ronin as a soulbound token.

Why mint the Gaming ID Badge?
These first-ever soulbound tokens will allow Ronin users to start building and highlighting their on-chain reputation. Clique will connect to a user’s Steam wallet, Twitter account, and Ronin wallet to track total playtime, favorite game genres, favorite themes, and preferred playstyles. In the future, users will be able to earn badges for a wide variety of off- and on-chain achievements! Here are a few examples:
Imagine a user who loves to play MOBA games. They might make a great beta tester for a new MOBA on Ronin! Thanks to Clique’s oracle, we’ll now be better able to connect that user with a game studio looking for beta testers. In the future, Clique’s oracle may even be a vehicle for NFT minting whitelists and airdrop programs. For example, users who collected over a certain amount of Genkai could receive a badge indicating their collector status. Future projects might give everyone with this badge whitelist access to upcoming mints if they’re looking to specifically target collectors that had an interest in collections like Genkai.

Privacy Protection
Clique uses standardized Twitter O-Auth tokens to get public information from your Twitter account, and can only access limited data from Steam once you’ve set your profile settings to public. These two steps allow Clique to gather data on your gaming history, which can then be used to determine eligibility for on-chain badges on Ronin. However, Clique does not publish this information on-chain. That means your Gaming ID Badge will be visible on the Ronin blockchain, but the personal information that determines eligibility will always remain private.
In the future, Clique plans to implement zero-knowledge-proof-based systems for even more rigorous privacy protection.
